The Digital and Information Solutions Team has embarked on a large programme of change within Upper Hutt City Council which means variety is guaranteed. You will work as part of a cohesive and supportive team to ensure efficient and effective spatial services, project delivery and advice to Upper Hutt City Council staff and external customers.

Spatial data, systems and mapping play a crucial role in decision making at Council by enabling effective communication of ideas and opportunities within the organisation and to the public.

We’re looking for an experienced Spatial Analyst to join our Digital and Information Solutions Team.

You will be responsible for creating and maintaining Council’s spatial, asset and property data. This includes providing user support and training, undertaking administrative tasks in council’s core systems, and working across departments on projects and initiatives. You will be mentored and supported by an experienced wider team, and will have access to career development opportunities and training.

Please note, this role is fixed-term (12 months) maternity cover (January 2022 – January 2023).

 

Key responsibilities in this role include: 

  • Maintaining and supporting spatial (GIS) enterprise applications, including supporting the ArcGIS Enterprise environment.
  • Creating and maintaining spatial, asset and property data.
  • Contributing to spatially-orientated projects across departments, specifically in the planning division.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures and documentation.

 

To be considered for this role we are ideally looking for:

 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Spatial Science or equivalent. Post-graduate qualification is desirable.
  • Proven experience using ESRI’s ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience using Python, SQL, FME or AutoCAD is desirable.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills – especially Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Sound understanding of Property and Asset Management principles and practices.
  • Sound understanding of the RMA and other essential legislation.
  • An understanding of information management standards, principles and practices.
