The Upper Hutt City Council’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in Upper Hutt by providing leadership, support, and services to the community.
The Infrastructure Services team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the Council achieves this mission. We are looking for a Roading Engineer to join our dedicated team.
Working together with the other members of the roading team you will be involved with the delivery of Upper Hutt City’s annual roading programme, and ensuring that the work is completed within budget and to the required standards and timeframes. This position offers a great opportunity to gain experience in the full contract life cycle, from preparation and tendering, through supervision, and administration, to completion and sign-off. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will be needed to develop and maintain relationships with contracted external providers and across the Council organisation.
The key part of the position is delivery of Council’s maintenance works. However, other opportunities are available to develop your individual skills and to gain experience in carrying out site investigations and preparing feasibility studies, road design, and the delivery of capital projects.
A relevant tertiary engineering qualification is preferred. However, to be successful in this role experience is not essential as the position could be suitable for a new graduate.
Applicants without a formal qualification but who are completing their engineering studies this year or who have relevant practical experience in roading operations and are looking for the next step in their career will also be considered.
