Activation encourages those in their more senior years to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. The benefits of being physically active include improvements in health, strength and stability, social connectivity and cognitive function. There are a number of fun and varied opportunities on offer.

Seniors Month

Seniors Month is during the month of October and stems from the International Day for Older Persons which is on October 1st. To celebrate seniors in our Upper Hutt community, we have put together a variety of fun activities with the help and support of local providers.

Our activities include indoor and outdoor sports, walking groups and exercise sessions. Come and have a go to participate in fun physical and social activities, meet new people, and learn more about what activities are regularly available in your community.

Senior Regional Games

The Senior Regional Games is a free annual multi sports and social event for those that are 50+ in the Wellington Region. Suitable for the active; less active than I used to be; only active if I get to see my mates; and those keen to come and watch others be active.

From Badminton to Bowls, and card games to dancing, there will be something for everyone. This event is knocking down boundaries and challenging assumptions that the older you get, the less opportunities to stay active there are.

The 2020 Senior Regional Games are to be held at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington on Tuesday November 3rd.
