The Activation Team at Upper Hutt City Council has one major plan and that is to assist our community to become more active, more often.
The framework for this plan is the Upper Hutt Active Recreation Plan (UHARP) adopted by council in November 2006 and was supported and funded by four project partners, Upper Hutt City Council, Youthtown, Sport Wellington and Lion Foundation. Since 2006 Activation has changed to sit solely under the Upper Hutt City Council umbrella, but often run and facilitate projects and programmes funded by other stakeholders in the sport and recreation sector.
Activation works with clubs, active recreation providers, community groups and individuals to develop and support physical activity in the city by implementing the active recreation plan.
The plan has many interventions from people starting to explore options for active recreation to those that excel in their area of choice.
