Waste and recycling

There are seven golden rules when it comes to reducing waste – they’re easy to remember, they all start with R.

And if we consider those rules when we’re buying something, or about to throw something out, then we’ll be able to reduce the amount of rubbish going to the landfill. Some of these you’ll know well, for others you might need a few tips to get started.

This campaign is underpinned by the Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP) for the Wellington region. The community education piece is one of 19 regional actions which collectively seek to reduce waste to landfill and ensure that the Wellington region is doing its part towards its waste related social, economic, cultural and environmental responsibilities. You can read more about WMMP on our website.
