The Environmental Health division is responsible for promoting public health and safety within the community. A wide range of regulations and bylaws are enforced, including abandoned vehicles.
For any abandoned vehicles reported to Council, we will investigate complaints and actively pursue the owner if they are able to be traced. Vehicles will have a notice attached to the front windscreen and the owners given seven days to remove the vehicle from the road.
Most vehicles investigated by Council officers are removed by an owner. This has dramatically reduced the cost of abandoned vehicle disposal.
Council actively encourages owners to remove and if necessary responsibly dispose of immobile and/or unregistered, unwarranted vehicles from public roads.
