Successful Grant Writing Workshop Empowers Local Clubs and Non-profits
Published on 21 March 2023
A free grant writing workshop hosted by Upper Hutt City Council has met with great success as participants gained valuable knowledge and skills to secure funding for future grant applications.
The workshop, led by grant writer, Kirsty Prentice, provided participants with practical advice on identifying grant opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, and building strong relationships with funders. Attendees also had the opportunity to network with other local clubs and non-profit organisations and exchange best practice.
"The success of this workshop is a testament to the commitment of our local clubs and non-profits to serve our Upper Hutt community," said Mike Ryan, Director of Community Services. "By providing access to resources and knowledge, we can empower our local clubs and non-profit organisations to continue making a positive impact on our city."
Participants left the workshop feeling confident and inspired to take their grant writing skills to the next level. One attendee, Suzanne Linton, said that the workshop was well-organised and useful. "Thank you, Upper Hutt City Council. The workshop delivered what was promised and my highlight was the knowledgeable rundown about fundraising strategies.”
Kirsty Prentice also expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to lead the workshop, stating, "It was an honour to share my knowledge with such a passionate group of non-profit leaders. I have no doubt that they will use their newfound skills to make a meaningful impact in our community."
Upper Hutt City Council is committed to supporting local clubs and non-profit organisations, and plans to host additional workshops in the future.
