The Park Street Recycling Station has reopened now that we are at Alert Level 2.
We’ll be asking you to follow the safety measures in place, like wearing a face covering, scanning your NZ COVID Tracer app, and observing physical distancing.
Another change you’ll notice is that you can now recycle your #5 plastics, as well as the standard #1 and #2
That means things like your ice cream containers, big yoghurt containers (not pottles), and take-away containers can be recycled and don’t have to go to the landfill.
Our recycling station has two new containers so we can handle the increased capacity.
But the great news is, what can be recycled at our recycling station, is the same right across the city.
Whether you’re using private kerbside recycling at home, or our new public recycling bins, like the ones at Maidstone Max and Upper Hutt train station, all of them take plastics #1, #2 and #5, as well as paper, cardboard and glass.
