On 26 September, there will be a one-off public holiday to mark the death of the Queen.

It will coincide with a state memorial service at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul.

Some of our facilities will be closed, and some will be open but with a change in hours.

  • Council Customer Services (HAPAI Service Centre) – closed (after hours contact centre will take calls throughout the day)
  • Upper Hutt and Pinehaven Libraries – closed but the digital library is open 24/7, with access to eBooks, magazines, films and lots more.
  • H2O Xtream –open from 8.00 am – 7.00 pm, with slides open from 11.00 am (no Learn to Swim or hydro classes)
  • Whirinaki Whare Taonga – closed during the day, open for the concert in the evening.
