On Sunday, Mayor Guppy officially opened the permanent orienteering course at Harcourt Park. This course is now available for all of the Upper Hutt community to use.

Council's Activation team were proud to collaborate with our Parks and Reserves team and the Hutt Valley Orienteering Club to establish the course.

A number of checkpoints have been installed throughout the park and four course options have been created for various difficulty levels and distances.

Using GPS and mobile technology, anyone can have a go by simply downloading the app and map.

Notifications are sent when each checkpoint is found and your completion time is recorded via the app.

There is no cost to download a course. The app and course maps are available for download at the Hutt Valley Orienteering website www.ohv.org.nz.

The course at Harcourt Park is suitable for all ages and ability. It adds yet another recreational activity for the community alongside the existing playground, splash pad, cycle track, walking trails, frisbee golf, sports fields and the picnic and barbeque areas.
