What is Tiaki Taiao? Tiaki Taiao means taking care of our environment and natural heritage.

It reflects the process we are undertaking to identify important natural landscapes, features, or areas of land with special wildlife, plants, and trees that are native and important to the biodiversity of our city.

Since September 2020, we’ve been engaging with landowners and the wider community to discuss the significant natural areas (SNAs), native bush and landscapes in Upper Hutt (Plan Change 48) in more detail.

We’ve shared all the information with affected land owners and now, we’re now seeking your feedback on the draft policies and rules.
