Aligned to our strategic goals in the Arts, Culture, and Heritage Strategy 2022-2027, we are thrilled to announce the successful allocation of round two of the Creative Communities Scheme funding to support various art and culture projects within our community. This initiative aims to foster creativity, enrich cultural experiences, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
The Arts, Culture, and Heritage Strategy 2022-2027 serves as the guiding framework for our commitment to nurturing and promoting the arts in Upper Hutt. It sets out strategic goals, including increasing community engagement, supporting local artists, fostering cultural diversity, and creating vibrant public spaces.
After a rigorous evaluation process during round two, we have allocated more than $25,000 of the Creative Communities Scheme funding to eleven groups of applicants whose projects exemplify the vision and objectives outlined in the strategy. These diverse initiatives span various artistic disciplines, such as visual arts, performing arts, youth participation and culture. We are confident that these projects will contribute significantly to the flourishing arts scene and cultural vitality of our community.
The total allocated funding of $42,000 for 2022/2023, made possible through two rounds of funding in October 2022 and May 2023, will provide vital resources to our successful applicants, enabling them to bring their artistic visions to life, engage with the community, and create meaningful experiences that reflect our unique cultural identity. These projects will be instrumental in promoting collaboration, fostering talent development, and showcasing the wealth of artistic expression that exists within Upper Hutt.
We wish to extend our sincere congratulations to all the successful applicants and express gratitude to Creative New Zealand for their commitment to supporting arts and culture in Upper Hutt. This partnership underscores our shared belief in the power of art and culture to inspire, educate, and bring people together.
