Council meeting debrief - 3 November

Published on 04 November 2021

Our most recent Council meeting was held on Wednesday 3 November. Here are three key updates.
For those who missed the meeting, a recording is available in our feed below and the minutes will be released over the next few days.
  • In public forum, members of the public spoke to Council about street racing problems in the City. Council is committed to working with the NZ Police and other relevant organisations to address this issue.

  • To bring efficiencies, Council adopted changes to the Traffic and Legislation Committees. Matters relating to the Traffic Committee will now be incorporated by the City Development Committee and matters relating to the Legislation Committee will now be incorporated by the Policy Committee. Members of the Traffic Committee will sit on City Development. As all Councillors are members of the Policy Committee the changes enable full participation. The arrangement also continues to allow the public full participation.

  • Council agreed on the 2022 meeting schedule. Council decides meeting dates in advance to give certainty for the public. The meeting schedule runs up to 21 September 2022 in anticipation of the Local Government elections in October 2022.
