We have been alerted to canine parvovirus (parvo) cases in Upper Hutt. Parvovirus is a highly contagious viral infection that spreads between dogs, and sadly it can be fatal.
Symptoms of the virus include:
Vaccinating dogs is the best way to prevent canine parvovirus infection. We’re urging people with dogs and puppies to please keep them home until they’ve had their jabs.
If you have an infectious dog at your home, be sure to disinfect areas such as their bed, toys and bowls to avoid further spread.
