Upper Hutt City Council is now cancelling or postponing all events at our venues for over 100 attendees. The decision comes on the back of Minister of Health, David Clark's announcement that no indoor gatherings of more than 100 people should go ahead.

In particular this means that Aqua Beatz that was due to be held at H2O Xtream aquatic centre tomorrow night (20 March) is now cancelled.

While we wait for clarification on 'gathering' from the Ministry of Health, H2O Xtream will also be capping overall attendance at the venue to 100 for the time being.

Expressions Whirinaki will move to cap audiences in its theatre at 100. Several events booked by third-parties are already self-cancelling or postponing. Expressions Whirinaki will update details on their website in the coming days: expressions.org.nz

Upper Hutt City Libraries does not have any upcoming events that are expected to reach 100 however the venue and programmes can become crowded at times. Staff will be reinforcing messages to encourage 'social distancing' (where practicable) in order to minimise risk at their venues.

Council will continue to monitor Ministry of Health guidance and act accordingly.
