As part of KiwiRail’s Trentham to Upper Hutt Double Tracking project, Downer will be relocating a water main under the rail level crossing on Blenheim Street.

This work requires a lane closure on the east bound lane (towards Brewtown). There will be large deep trenches dug on either side of the tracks to provide access to bore new pipelines under the tracks.

East bound traffic will be detoured with two options available (Brown Street, Benzie Ave, Wood Street, Kellow Str, McLean Street, Ward Street, Seddon Street, or Fergusson Drive, Park Street, Goodshed Road).

The west bound (towards Upper Hutt City Centre) will remain open and pedestrian access will be available at all times on the southern side of the level crossing.

Work is scheduled to begin on 22 February and will take an estimated 3 to 4 weeks. The lane will remain closed for the duration of the work.

Please allow a little more time for your journeys if your normal route is via Blenheim Street.

Thanks everyone for your patience - we're on the home stretch now. The project is scheduled for completion at the end of April.
