1. Super Gold Card

The gold card is a discounts and concessions card for seniors and veterans, in recognition of the contribution to New Zealand society.

It offers discounts from a range of businesses, government concessions (including free off-peak public transport), and discounted services from your local council.

2. Senior Services

3. 60s up groups

Upper Hutt is a branch of the National 60s Up Movement, with a total of five groups in the local area. Groups include; Brown Owl, Maidstone, Moonshine, Silverstream, and central Upper Hutt.

Each group has a regular meeting time and host a range of activities.

4. Remutaka Lions Club

The Remutaka Lions Club is a gender inclusive club with members ranging from 40-75 years of age. They meet on the first and third Monday of every month from 6 pm at the King Lion Hall.

5. Rotary Clubs

Upper Hutt is the host of two Rotary Clubs, Upper Hutt and Heretaunga Rotary. Both clubs are active in the local community supporting a range of activities with funding and utilising the expertise of club members.

6. Grey Power

Grey Power are an advocacy group with various board members who talk to people in government that have the power to make change. They also host a range of other initiatives and activities.

7. Age Concern

Age Concern is a charitable organisation dedicated solely to people over 65. They promote dignity, wellbeing, equality, and respect, and provide expert information and support services in response to older persons needs.

8. Senior Net

Senior Net is an organisation based in Upper Hutt that supports and assists people 50+ to use a computer and other forms of technology. You will find them located down City Arcade, Main Street, Upper Hutt.

9. Positive Ageing Week

Over the years Council has supported positive ageing by running events in the local community. Moving forward we now run a series of intergenerational programmes aimed at lowering social isolation, growing resilience across generations, and encouraging community connections.
