Upper Hutt City Council elections will be held on Saturday 8 October 2016. Local elections within Upper Hutt include Mayor and Council, as well as Greater Wellington Regional Council, Hutt Mana Charitable Trust, Hutt Valley District Health Board and Rimutaka Licensing Trust.
Elections for all local authorities in New Zealand are held every three years using the postal voting method with voting papers being delivered from 16 September 2016.
The elections will be conducted under the provisions of the Local Electoral Act 2001, the Local Electoral Regulations 2001 and the Local Government Act 2002.

Candidate briefing session
A candidate briefing session will be conducted by the Electoral Officer to provide information to prospective candidates for the upcoming Local Elections. This will be held in the Civil Defence Meeting Room, Ground Floor, Administration Building, 838–842 Fergusson Drive, Upper Hutt at 6:00pm on Thursday, 28 July 2016. Anyone interested in becoming a candidate is invited to attend. More candidate information is provided below.
