Upper Hutt City is a key centre in the Greater Wellington Region with roughly 9 percent of its
population and 7 percent of the its land (the fourth biggest city in NZ by land area). Upper Hutt
also serves as the gateway between the more urban centres of Wellington and Hutt City, and
the more rural Wairarapa.
