Planning

The Council has a statutory responsibility under the Resource Management Act 1991 to prepare and administer its District Plan.

The Planning Division is responsible for promoting for promoting the sustainable management of Upper Hutt's natural and physical resources in a manner that is consistent with Resource Management Act 1991.  Its role is to provide information and guidance related to resource consent applications and enquiries on the District Plan.

This is in keeping with Council’s City Vision 'Upper Hutt City - A Great Place to Live' and the community outcomes identified in the LTCCP - Long Term Council Community Plan 2009 - 2019 (including the 2009-2010 Annual Plan)
