Archives
The Archive collection is made up of archives, manuscripts, maps, photographic collections and oral history tapes as well as other material relating to the history of Upper Hutt and its people.It includes the records of community clubs and organisations, church archives, genealogical records and business archives, original diaries and manuscripts, and other papers. Such records are often unique and fragile and require special processing, handling, and storage conditions.
The aim of the Upper Hutt Community Archive is to preserve the archival and historical record of the Upper Hutt community, and to provide a resource for the study of the community, including genealogists, local historians, academics and others interested in our history. Items can be viewed at the Upper hutt city Library during the weekday hours of 10am - 5pm weekends and evenings by appointment.
