Youthtown

Youthtown, Upper Hutt is based at Maidstone Pavilion and has been operating since 2007 in the city.  Youthtown started in Auckland more than sixty years ago and is a not-for-profit organisation that helps young people express themselves, develop skills and build self esteem, in safe, open and stimulating environments.   

Activation works with the Youthtown programme particularly in areas of youth development and assisting to promote and develop physical activity programmes.  The Upper Hutt Active Recreation Plan (UHARP) has some goals that are directly aligned to the Youthtown programme.  Youthtown is an active partner and stakeholder of the Activation project.

The primary outcome of UHARP is to achieve the increased participation of members of the Upper Hutt community in a wide range of recreational activities, to support Upper Hutt’s outcome of becoming a “healthy and safe” city.

The key to the success of this partnership is to develop, facilitate and promote a range of opportunities and programmes that fit within the Youthtown brand and goals of Activation.
