Water charges

A targeted rate, by way of a set rate per dollar on a capital value basis, is proposed to meet
approximately 20% of the rating revenue required for water supply, identified as being required
for fire fighting purposes, and is levied upon each separately used or inhabited portion of a
rating unit which is connected to the water supply (“a serviced property”).  

Where the rating unit can be, but is not supplied with water and is situated within 100 metres of
any part of the water works, (“a serviceable property”) a charge of 50% of the full charge will
be made.

A further targeted rate, by way of a uniform annual charge (UAC), is proposed to be set on each
separately used or inhabited portion of a rating unit to which water is supplied
(“a serviced property”) to provide 60% of rating revenue needed for the general water supply
service. Where the rating unit can be, but is not supplied with water and is situated within 100
metres of any part of the water works, (“a serviceable property”) a charge of 50% of the full
charge will be made.

For extraordinary supply of water a user charge will be set based on the quantity of water used
in excess of the UAC entitlement (currently set at 260cum per unit of UAC) as calculated by the
water meters installed on the properties concerned. This charge accounts for approximately 20%
of the revenue needed for the general water supply service.
