The Nikau Foundation
|
The Nikau Foundation was established to provide simple, effective and
longlasting ways for individuals and families to make a gift, or leave
a gift in their will, to benefit their local communities. It is part
of the worldwide movement of community foundations which help people
achieve the charitable wishes in their local communities.
A community foundation such as the Nikau Foundation encourages local
giving for local needs. Donors give through a community foundation to
their preferred charities. The capital is retained and only the income
is given out, every year, forever.
If a charity or institution ceases to exist the money is not lost.
Nikau is flexible so that it can keep donors’ wishes relevant and adapt
to changing needs in the community. |
In summary, the Nikau Foundation:
- Raises funds to help local people and groups
- Manages those funds and gives the income back in grants to worthwhile community projects
- Raises the profile of philanthropy, promoting local generosity and enhancing a sense of place.

Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards
|
Wellington Airport joins with the Wellington Community Trust each year to recognise voluntary organisations that do so much to make our community a better place. These awards provide a way for people in the community to say thank you, as well as allowing those within the organisation to nominate their group to receive a reward for all their hard work. Wellington Airport recognises the value of volunteers and their work in strengthening the community.

Applications close 15 August 2011.
