Getting a Card
You need to join the library and get a card to take things home.
Who can join
Upper Hutt City Council offers free membership to all ratepayers and residents of any age.
Also adult non-resident/ratepayers 16 and over employed within Upper Hutt more than 20 hours per week can join the library. Please bring proof of employment.
Adults
Adult non-residents (16 and over, who do not reside or own property within Upper Hutt) can join as subscription members. 12 months - $100.00, 6 months - $60.00, 3 months $40.00.
Casual borrowing (per visit) $5.00.
Under 16
Under 16 non-residents (who do not reside or own property within Upper Hutt) can join as subscription members. 12 months - $25.00, 6 months - $15.00, 3 months - $10.00.
Casual borrowing (per visit) $2.00. However, students who are under 16 and attending a school in Upper Hutt can become a free borrowing member with proof that they are attending a local school.
When you have joined
You will be given a card which you will need to bring with you each time you want to borrow. This card and items borrowed on it are your or your parent / guardian’s responsibility.
You can use your card at:
- Central Library
- Pinehaven Library
- Mobile Library
