Kev the Wandering Kiwi

| Kev the Wandering Kiwi walks are a series of guided walks around the Hutt Valley regional parks for families and inactive people over summer. The programme has been running since 2006 with walks around one hour in duration on iconic and well formed park tracks accessible to most people. Participants are guided around the walk by the local ranger and the programme mascot Kev the Wandering Kiwi makes appearances in the bush and in the tracks to the delight of the children. The programme is jointly managed by staff of Greater Wellington, Leisure Active (Hutt City Council) and Activation and Community Services (Upper Hutt City Council). This partnership was created from the beginning arising out of the initial Active Communities project in the Hutt Valley. In 2008 Sport Wellington became involved with two of the walks which are jointly promoted as part of the buggy walk programme. |
