Fearnley, Charles
| Charles Fearnley, F.N.Z.I.A., was a Wellington architect, architectural historian and photographer. In c1985 he sent more than 40 photographic prints, in three boxes and with no identifying numbers or text, with an accompanying note to the Upper Hutt City Librarian. The note simply said "I am sending you forty prints, the result of the year's collecting at Upper Hutt..." A former City Librarian, David Lee-Smith, recalled that Mr Fearnley had been commissioned by his predecessor David Archer for the Upper Hutt City Library to take photographs of Upper Hutt. The collection of these photographs held in the Library today show many of the buildings in Upper Hutt at that time, and these have been described individually although any intended theme or criteria used by Charles remains unknown.
