Jackson, Wilfred Revelle
| Wilfred Revelle Jackson emigrated from England in June 1952 with his wife, Stella and their young daughter Lynne. Having survived World War II the couple looked for a safer and healthier life in New Zealand. Revelle had already worked on his own as a photographer in Greater London before coming to New Zealand. His first studio in Upper Hutt was in an old house where The Mall currently stands, and next door to a furrier. Revelle photographed weddings, 21st parties, babies and schools as well as working alongside Julia Bradley, the then editor of the Leader taking photographs of special events. Many of the photos published in that paper in the 1950s and 1960s were Revelle's. He also took many of the pictures in Hazelwood's extensive photo collection. Although he kept photographing commercially until 1980, most of his works are in black and white. The Library holds thousands of negatives from Revelle Jackson, these have been digitised and are available through the Archive Database along with his photographs.
