Pinehaven Stream Study
The Pinehaven Stream catchment is set to receive special attention which could finally put an end to the stream’s ongoing flood issue. The Upper Hutt City Council in partnership with Greater Wellington Regional Council is set to commence an investigation which will look into the current and future flooding risks of the stream. The investigation, set to run over two years with a one year gap in between to allow for information to be analysed, has been broken into two phases.
Phase 1
The first phase, set to commence shortly and be completed by July 2009, is set to first identify the streams flooding risk for current and future developments and then develop a stream and floodplain computer model.Phase 2
Phase two of the project, set to run over the 2010/11 financial year, will look at the different options to manage the flood risk and will include consultation with affected properties within the Pinehaven catchment.UHCC are currently selecting a consultant for the first phase of the study. The consultant will be seeking historical information from residents and will need to access properties to survey the stream. The council ensure all landowners will be given at least three days notice before anyone entering the property.
