Good Idea Awards
There is wide range of ‘grass roots’ projects and
initiatives happening within our vibrant community.
Council has established the
‘Good Idea Awards’(GIAs) as a means of recognising projects and initiatives
nominated by members of the public or that come to Councils attention through
its engagement with the community.
Nominations for the first 2012 good
idea awards open 1 November 2011 and will close on 28 February
2012.

About the Good Idea Awards
|
The purpose of this initiative is to recognise, inspire and
propagate ‘good ideas’ within the community. Thus, each award represents a call
to action and will be promoted as such. The GIAs are intended to be an organic initiative and so
there are no set criteria for what type of project or initiative qualifies. The
only condition is that the good idea must have been or is in the process of
being implemented.
The ‘good ideas’ are to be judged by a panel of
council staff and/or community representatives on their ‘relative merit’ to the
Upper Hutt community and each nomination will be judged against the other
nominations from the same period biannually.

How to make a nomination

Nominations can also be made by Council for projects or initiatives that staff
come across through working with the community.

The award is a certificate with an appropriate
accompanying prize (themed to suit the recipient/award). Where possible, local
sponsors will be sought to provide or subsidise prizes therefore also promoting
local businesses. The initial frequency of the awards is to be twice a year.
