Sports clubs and Active groups are an important part of life for many people in Upper Hutt. They provide healthy, competitive and social experiences. The Active Clubs Coordinator supports clubs and active groups in Upper Hutt enabling groups to grow and provide activities for people along the 'explore to excel' continuum.

Active Clubs assists the community to increase physical activity by:

• providing advice, information and support to clubs.
• promoting club opportunities to the community.
• facilitating the provision of training to volunteers, coaches and officials.
• building effective communication networks for clubs and the community.

 

Activation works closely with Sport Wellington to achieve shared goals.

Engaging and Retaining Young Members in Your Club

 

A clubs resource is available for download below which has some great information about young members at your club. This resource details how clubs can engage and retain young members and provides some general information about coaching generation Y. It has a ‘top ten tips’ section for some quick ideas about what your club can do to attract young people and boost your club numbers. This resource was developed as a result of a futureCLUB development evening with one of New Zealand’s top Youth Sport experts, Farah Palmer, and was a massive hit with attendees. ActiveFutures - developing sport and activity in Upper Hutt

 

Activation holds regular forums for club committees, coaches, players and officials.  The new name ActiveFutures aims to show that these workshops are for all members of the community.  There is a range of topics which will help your club and people.
